About
This course runs over 2 weeks, blended/face-to-face (ONLY 10 days face-to-face), with some learning (approx. 2 weeks) required to be completed online before course commencement. It equips new entrants with the knowledge and skills to join the VIC security industry.

Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to apply for a VIC security licence - Victorian Private Security Act 2004 - Private Security and County Court Amendment Act 2024 - Unarmed Guard, Control Room Operator, and Crowd Controller licence.
You must have completed the approved training requirement for all activities for which you wish to be licensed. Please note that training (completed with an approved Registered Training Organisation) is required to be valid within 12 months of the receipt of the application by Victoria Police LRD (Licensing and Regulation Division).
You are required to supply an identification reference from an acceptable referee. An acceptable referee for an identification reference must be someone who has known you for at least 12 months. The person who provides your identification reference must be the same person who certifies your 100 points of identification - Read more about acceptable referees.

When applying for a security licence (issued for 3 years) in VIC, you will need to provide documentation proving your current VIC address (e.g., VIC Driver's Licence).
Private Security licences require a full set of fingerprints to be taken as part of the application process. You can find more information on the fingerprinting process and how to arrange an appointment to book a fingerprinting appointment.
Provide certified copies of international police checks from any other country you have resided in for a period of more than 12 months over the previous 10 years since turning 16 years of age (if applicable).
Australian/New Zealand Citizen, or Permanent Australian Resident. A person must have current full working rights when applying for a licence.
Provide your 100 points of Identification (e.g., Driver’s Licence, Passport).
To get a security licence, you must have both training (FIRST AID + CPP20218) and meet general suitability criteria. Must be a “fit and proper person” (police will assess criminal history and other factors). This includes not having any medical condition or history with the police that would hinder your employment within the industry.
Suppose you answer 'Yes' to any of the medical history questions in your application. In that case, you must also provide a medical report from your treating doctor supporting your suitability to hold a private security licence and be in possession of firearms (if applicable). The medical report must contain an acknowledgement from your health care professional that you are seeking employment within the security industry.

Duration
The course training runs over 2 weeks, blended/face-to-face and supported learning away from class for each unit.
Before the training, you must also complete pre-course online learning (approx. 2 weeks).
During the training, you must complete supported online learning and other activities (a combination of paper-based and online).
Student support will be provided between the hours before and after class, 8:30 a.m—9:00 a.m and 4:30 p.m—6:00 p.m.
Focus: Orientation, Legal Frameworks, WHS, and Communication, Risk, Conflict, Patrols, and First Aid

Roleplays and scenario-based training
Simulated security incidents
Patrolling, conflict management, and WHS drills
First Aid & CPR assessments (HLTAID011)
Trainer-led feedback and debriefing will help reinforce skills and align performance with industry standards.
Attendance at in person sessions is mandatory – be prepared to actively participate and demonstrate competence in all key areas.

Pre-Registration
You must successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment.
The security industry requires a strong foundation in English language and literacy skills. This course is designed for individuals who can confidently read, write, and communicate in English. You need a strong grasp of the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding, to be able to complete this course successfully.
You must be able to actively participate in practical security and first aid scenarios, including performing CPR on a manikin placed on the ground. If you use a wheelchair or have other physical challenges that may affect your ability to complete these activities, please reach out to us before booking to discuss your specific needs.
To successfully complete the pre-course online component (and some other online learning during the course), you will require access to a portable computer with a reliable internet connection.
You must provide 100 points of Identification when making an application for enrolment.
You MUST have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) number. From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI - www.usi.gov.au.
Any remaining fees must be paid before course commencement.

CPPSEC2106 Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
CPPSEC2107 Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
CPPSEC2113 Escort and protect persons and valuables
HLTAID011 Provide first aid
